New Checks

I paid some bills this weekend, and for the first time since we moved here, I didn't scratch the old address off the top of the check and pen in the new one. It felt like I was forgetting something, like it was incomplete without my initials up top. I know most people probably just order new checks when they move, but not me. I did break down and pay to get a new driver's license with the correct address, but checks? Nope. I just kept using the old ones for 16 months until they were gone. I did this last time we moved, too.

Does everyone do this? Or have I crossed the invisible line from cheap to nutty?

I ALWAYS do that. Why waste what I paid for already?

Um, hello? What do you think I'm doing? Banklady told me you can just stick an address label over the incorrect address. She said that part of the check has no bearing on it whatsoever.

I'm in the nutty category too--I always do that when I move.

We write very few checks, so a box lasts a long time. When we moved from Midwest to Utopia we didn't buy new checks, so for the whole five years we lived there, I crossed off the wrong address. With this move I got new checks, but only because we needed to find a new bank.

I do this, both because a) I am cheap and don't want to order new checks and b) I hardly ever write checks. But mostly because I'm cheap!
