Self Portrait in Shadow
Normally when taking photos, I do everything possible to keep my shadow out of the frame. However, as the the sun sinks low in the sky, the shadows stretch out, and I grow intrigued. The shadows become a subject in of themselves. My human form is distorted like in a funhouse mirror, all legs and no head. The red-winged blackbirds were singing up a storm.

It is positively thrilling to hear the birds singing in the dark every morning when I take the dog out now. Dare I hope for spring?
Beautiful picture!
Lovely :)
Hearing the bird makes it seem entirely possible that spring will come, doesn't it?
One of my favorite pictures from our Ireland trip is a family self-portrait of our shadows, with the sun setting behind us into the ocean and our shadows stretching out along a farm lane toward the rocky coast.

Excellent photo and great idea. You are quite creative, you know. And the birds, I hear them too.
I love long shadows, too! What fun! And birds singing! Hurray! It's actually warm outside. (Yesterday for a while, it was almsot verging on HOT!)

Lovely picture--lovely image with words, too!
Very cool. This is a fun shot and the scene itself is evocative of things to come. Soon it will look like this.
